Baptist Theology: A Critical Look
Hey Bush! If It's Not Broke Don't Fix It!
02.18.05 (5:50 am)   [edit]
The Bush administration will soon have its bill limiting lawsuits signed and sealed. Bush argued that too many “junk lawsuits” have damaged our economy. Greedy lawyers have exploited the justice system and are ruining our country! Far be it for me to defend lawyers, but I do think that many lawyers perform a valuable service in securing justice. http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPO...

My main concern however is the inconsistency that conservatives and Bush are displaying here. They are saying that our justice system can’t be trusted. They are saying that Congress is a better judge of what’s right and what’s wrong and so is the president. After the debacle in Iraq, I don’t trust the president to make wise decisions. After seeing all kinds of crap Congress has done in my lifetime, I’m not so sure I trust them either.

But what really bothers me is that the President and conservatives are saying that our justice system is broken and doesn’t work…then they allow and even encourage this broken system that can’t be trusted to make the right decision to determine life or death issues! If the system isn’t trustworthy, why should you allow courts to determine if one should be killed, oops, put to death? Why is the system able to make proper decisions in this area? Seems pretty darn important to me! The death penalty judgments are sure to be correct, but the fact that tobacco companies might be engaged in something that could be hazardous is of course very uncertain. But even if they are doing something wrong let’s not hurt the economy over a few thousand folks that are impacted by industry and medical “problems”!

Dear Sir,

I am a Christian and I believe that we should respect those in authority. From what I have read from you so far, it seems to me that you are a democrat. If I am wrong, please tell me. But, if I am right about that, then tell me how you could support democratic beliefs of abortion [murder], gay marriage, and other topics like that. As far as I know, God never would say its okay to kill an unborn baby. Now I know that Bush is not perfect, but neither are we. So why are you bashing him? Would you rather have an atheistic, pro-choice president? Let me tell you something: Bush is a whole lot better than some of the other candidates.
